Day 1: Cross border, Jerash

In the morning we cross the border at Sheikh Hussein Bridge over the Jordan River.  Drive to Jerash, the Roman city that was part of the Decapolis union of city states. Here we explore the impressive ruins including the theaters, temples, the squares and streets lines by columns. This is one of the best preserved Roman cities in the world. Continue to Petra where we spend the night.

Day 2: Petra

This day is dedicated entirely to exploring the ancient city of Petra. This magnificent place was the capital of the Nabbatean kingdom and was nicknamed “The Red Rose City” because most of its buildings are carved in the red and pink rock. We start walking through the “Sik”, a narrow gauge which is the only approach to the city. We arrive at the magnificent “Treasury” – a tomb so rich and beautifully carved that it is considered one of the world’s marvels. We explore the city and see the tombs, temples and theater. Overnight in Petra.

Day 3: Aqaba, Wadi Rum

We leave Petra and drive to Aqaba, the resort town on the shores of the Red Sea across from Eilat, Israel.  Here we will have the opportunity to swim in the Red Sea.  Continue to Wadi Rum, a vast desert reserve. Here we’ll enjoy a Jeep ride through the canyons, sand fields and dunes. We see the ancient Nabataean temple, Lawrence’s Spring, and the Bedouin camps. Festive dinner and overnight at an authentic Bedouin camp.

Day 4: Madaba, Mount Nebo

In the morning we drive north to Madaba, the city of mosaics. Here we visit the Church of St. George where we see the famous mosaic map of the Holy Land. Continue to Mount Nebo, the site where Moses looked over the Promised Land. The view is truly magnificent. Back to The Sheikh Hussein border point and cross back to Israel.
