Day 1: Tel Aviv – Caesarea

Arrive to Tel Aviv. On Arrival, our representative will walk you through customs. Then we’ll head north along the Mediterranean coast to Caesarea, a Roman city with many archaeological findings such as the theater, the public bath, the hippodrome and the city gate. We’ll enjoy the new exhibitions of the city which date from Roman times.  Dinner and overnight stay in Haifa.

 

Day 2: Mt. Carmel – Haifa – Tiberius

We’ll start our morning with a visit to Muhraka, where Elijah proved the Ba’al prophets. We’ll also view the magnificent Baha’i Gardens of Haifa.  Afterwards, we’ll continue to Tiberius to visit the old town and see the Tomb of Maimonides (Rambam). Afterwards, we will sail on the Sea of Galilee. In the afternoon, we’ll visit Degania, the first Kibbutz, and visit the pioneers’ first houses. Dinner and overnight stay in Haifa.

 

Day 3: Acer – Safed

Our day begins in the “blue city” – Safed, the home of Jewish mysticism – the Kabbalah capital. We’ll visit the old town with H’ari and Habuab synagogues. Afterwards, we’ll continue to Acer to visit the crusaders castle, the Turkish Hamam museum and the colorful market. We’ll view Elijah’s caves, where the prophet is believed to have lived and taught. This evening, we will enjoy Druze hospitality and dinner in Isafiya, where we will learn about this unique faith. Overnight stay in Haifa.

 

Day 4: Tel Aviv – Jerusalem

Today we’ll visit Tel Aviv, the first Israeli city of the modern age. The group will visit the various historical and modern sites that influenced the establishment and the spirit of Israel; Beit Htfuzot, Neve Tzedek, the white city, Rabin Square, and Nachalat Binyamin. The group will also take time to visit Jaffa, one of the oldest ports in the world. In the afternoon, we’ll continue to Jerusalem to visit Mt. Herzel and Yad Vashem museum. Diner and overnight stay in Jerusalem.

 

Day 5: Dead Sea – Qumeran – Masada

We’ll drive to the Dead Sea, the lowest point on Earth and visit Qumran to see the caves where the Dead Sea Scrolls were discovered. Afterwards, we’ll ascend Masada via cable-car to learn the dramatic story of almost one thousand men, women and children, who chose suicide rather than to become Roman slaves. We’ll visit the archaeological finds and enjoy the palaces, bathhouses, walls and the remarkable view of the Dead Sea. We’ll proceed to bathe in the Dead Sea and will enjoy the sun and the famous mud.

 

Day 6: Jerusalem

Our morning starts on the Mount of Olives with a breathtaking panoramic view of Jerusalem. We’ll visit the City of David, the site where much of the Bible was written. We will explore the Roman Cardo, the Madaba Map, the “Hurva” synagogue and the Burnt House (so named because it was destroyed by the Romans).  We’ll visit the Western Wall Tunnels – ancient tunnels and passageways, the Western (Wailing) Wall – the holiest site where Jews can pray.  Afterwards we will visit the Davidson Center, with its amazing virtual model of the Second Temple. Dinner and overnight stay in Jerusalem.
